Loki Episode 01 Glorious Purpose Ending Explained (Spoilers)

Loki Season 01 Episode 01: Glorious Purpose Plot Summary and Synopsis

The episode opens in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. An alternate timeline version of Loki is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) after escaping from the Battle of New York with the Tesseract in 2012.

In the TVA’s headquarters, Judge Ravonna Renslayer accuses him of crimes against the Sacred Timeline. Loki believes the TVA should suspect the Avengers, as they went back in time, causing him to end up in this situation. However, Renslayer counters this by saying the Avengers’ mission was meant to happen, but Loki’s escape was not.

Following this, Agent Mobius M. Mobius takes Loki to the Time Theatre to review Loki’s past misdeeds and question his habit of killing and hurting people. Loki steals TVA tech to retrieve the Tesseract but gives up escaping upon realizing that the TVA’s power exceeds that of the Infinity Stones. Loki returns to the Time Theatre and witnesses a recording of the would-be future; the deaths of his adoptive parents Frigga and Odin, as well as his own at the hands of Thanos.

Realizing that his cruelty and mischief will not lead to his ascendance, Loki agrees to work with Mobius to protect the Sacred Timeline from a rogue variant of himself.

Loki Season 01 Episode 01: Glorious Purpose Ending

A group of TVA agents arrives to Salina, Oklahoma in 1858. They find an anachronistic device from the early third millennia. The group leader thinks that someone found a time machine to acquire oil-rich lands in the past and get rich but decides not to waste time looking for the fugitive.

Suddenly they see a hooded figure in the dark. The person is silent, and person’s face is hidden.

When TVA agents start to approach, the figure drops an oil lamp and sets all the area on fire. It was a trap set to lure and kill the TVA agents. A mysterious person kills the group leader and takes the time-reset device.

The Ending Explained

It is not explicitly revealed, but it all points that the mysterious figure is Loki’s rogue variant who knows much more of the TVA and its capabilities than Loki of 2012.
