Werewolves Within Plot Summary and Synopsis

The movie starts with a quote by Fred Rogers: ‘Listening is where love begins: listening to ourselves and then to our neighbors’.

It is wintertime. In the small town of Beaverfield, a man is texting with someone, then takes off his wedding ring. Suddenly a loud noise comes out of the woods along with several falling trees. The man says hello, but nobody responds. He looks around when someone grabs him and drags him into the forest.

The man tries to crawl away towards the local inn while crying for help but in vain.

29.5 days later Finn (Sam Richardson) is driving to Beaverfield as a new forest ranger. He arrives at Beaverfield, the same inn where a man was killed.

Inside he meets Jeanine (Catherine Curtin), and Sam Parker (Wayne Duvall) who tries to convince Jeanine to sell him her property so that to build a pipeline.

Jeanine takes all Finn’s belongings and takes them to the second floor despite his protests.

Finn meets postal worker Cecily (Milana Vayntrub) who has mail for him.

Cecily shows Finn the way around the town while sharing with him some information about the locals on the way, such as about Jeanine’s husband leaving her for other woman.

They meet Trisha Anderton (Michaela Watkins) and her husband Pete Anderton (Michael Chernus), who tries to grope Cecily. Trisha presents Finn with a toy figure of him she made herself. They also meet a local redneck couple Marcus and Gwen Sieczkowski, and a gay couple of Devon and Joaquim Wolfsons.

Gwen says that Cecily didn’t deliver the starter motor she ordered a while ago.

By the Beaverfield rail trail, Cecily asks Finn to deliver a box to Emerson Flint. Finn’s cell rings and he answers it without noticing signs with warnings about immediate death for every trespasser.

Finn approaches Emerson Flint’s house. Flint is dressed in a wolf coat with a wolf head as a hat and is very aggressive towards the ranger.

Finn runs away back to Cecily; she says she tried to warn him.

The duo goes to the Axe Den bar, which Cecily has full access to due to her job. Finn explains that transfer to Beaverfield was a way for Finn to keep his job. His girlfriend Charlotte ‘Charlie’ is happy about his transfer, as Finn was too available and his new position will help their relationship. Cecily explains to him, that Charlie broke up with him.

The duo plays darts with axes.

Cecily asks Finn if she can kiss him, but Charlie calls him again. Cecily is mad at Finn and leaves.

At night during a snowstorm, a monster kills Trisha’s dog Cha-Chi.

In the morning the electricity is cut off in the whole town. It makes all its residents gather inside Jeanine’s inn to know what caused it. Moreover, an avalanche blocked the only road out of town.

Finn goes to investigate and finds deep scratches on all generators throughout the town. He also finds the corpse of Jeanine’s husband, who was killed at the beginning of the movie. The corpse is half-eaten.

Sam Parker tries to convince other neighbors to sell him their properties, but Wolfsons refuse, thus blocking the deal for others.

Dr. Ellis promises Jeanine to find out who killed her husband.

Finn together with Cecily goes to Emerson Flint so that to convince him to track and kill the thing that kills his neighbors.

The residents back in the inn think that Emerson Flint is responsible for breaking all the generators at once.

The duo sees Cha-Chi’s collar on the shelf at Flint’s and abruptly leaves.

Dr. Ellis says that the DNA samples she found do not belong to a human.

Finn suggests everyone stay at the inn for a night and they lock up all the doors and windows. Finn goes to bed with his gun.

At night someone enters Andertons room and drags away Pete. Gwen accidentally shoots him trying to reach the monster. Pete lives but is mutilated as the monster bit off fingers on his right hand.

Dr. Ellis gets to the conclusion that the werewolf is one of the residents and shoots through the door. Parker enters the room and then says that she killed herself.

The group decides to take everyone’s guns, close them in the room and throw the keys away.

Everyone tells about their suspicions about other residents and Finn. Finn asks everyone to calm down and go to sleep. Gwen decides to leave and take Marcus along. Parker goes away too, as well as everyone else, but Finn, Cecily, and Jeanine.

Finn and Cecily find a knife used to break generators in Parker’s room. They also find a map with all the neighboring towns where recent attacks occurred marked with red crosses.

Meanwhile, Trisha kills Devon Wolfson. Parker enters the inn with night vision goggles and a crossbow. The duo runs and meets Joaquim.

They all go to Trisha’s house and finds Marcus with a knife glove, which resembles a werewolf paw. He runs out and gets run over by Gwen’s truck. Trisha shoots Gwen dead. Joaquim kills Trisha. Pete dies because of his wounds.

Joaquim put a gun to Cecily’s head. Parker shoots Joaquim with a crossbow and takes Cecily as a hostage.

Parker asks Finn to reveal himself, as all the murders happened in the town when Finn was around, and Parker was hunting him. He also says that he found a knife used to break the generators in Finn’s room. Finn tells him that they find a knife in Parker’s room.

Finn says that the only monster around is Parker and starts beating him, but Parker overpowers him and punches him with a knife. Finn sprays him in the face with pepper spray. Parker draws the gun.

Joaquim is alive and shoots the gas pipe Parker has been promoting. It blows up killing Parker.

Cecily gets Finn to the bar to treat his wound. Finn goes to the bathroom. He finds a box with undelivered Gwen’s starter motor. He enters the closet and finds it full of undelivered mail. He also finds a badge of postal worker David J. Shermann, Jeanine’s husband.

Finn comes back to the room. Cecily is the werewolf. They speak a bit, and then she transforms.

Flint gets in and hits Cecily with a shovel. She attacks Flint back and then chases Finn.

He stabs Cecily with some wood in the neck.

Werewolves Within Ending

Finn helps Flint to get up and they prepare to go away. Cecily gets up and jumps on them. Next moment Jeanine shoots her with a shotgun.

The Ending Explained

Cecily was behind all the murders and was flirting with Finn just to mock him. She is apparently dead, however, werewolves are quite tenacious, so it might not be the full stop in her story.
