The Resort Ending Explained (Spoilers)

The Resort Plot Summary and Synopsis

The movie starts with a security guy Mike trying to locate an intruder on the property. On his way, he frightens by his colleague Henry. Then, Mike mysteriously disappears in the dark.

The story skips to Alexandra ‘Lex’ Sanders who got a trip to Hawaii as a birthday present. Her boyfriend Chris, along with Sam and Bree give her a surprise birthday cake.

They inform her that they arranged another surprise for her – a trip to a haunted resort on abandoned Kilahuna island, which is not visited by locals. Lex shows a YouTube video explaining that none ever returned from the resort which is haunted by the Half-Faced Girl ghost. The girl was presumably killed by a tourist, but no one was ever punished, thus the ghost is vengeful to outsiders. Everyone is thrilled to go, but Sam – he is visibly scared. They take a helicopter while Lex is afraid of flying.

The plot then divides into two parts with each one goes one after another.

Lex is brought to a hospital out of the island by locals, who found her wandering around mindlessly. Detective Peterson questions her about what happened. She says Half-Faced Girl killed all her friends. The detective doesn’t believe her and tells her that he visited the island when he was younger.

The group starts a long walk towards the waterfall, but midway Lex insists they take a shortcut and go to the resort instead. Everyone disagrees and goes to the waterfall. Sam tells a story that he encountered a ghost when he was a kid. He fears the trip and is constantly drinking.

Lex tells detective island was trying to tell them to leave.

The group eventually goes into the resort. They explore the place. Sam decides to go downstairs alone. Lex, Chris, and Bree go into room 306. Lex takes multiple pictures. Suddenly a herd of birds flies above them. Lex and Sam want to stay longer, but others insist on the initial plan to board the boat.

The detective tells Lex her phone has no pictures taken in the resort.

The group tries to find a hole in the fence they used to get inside the resort territory, but it disappeared. Lex remembers Chris left her backpack in the resort and rushes back to get it. They find the bag in a room they never entered before. It was in a corner with a dead coyote nearby while there are no coyotes in Hawaii. Lex takes a picture of the coyote.

The plot arrives at the starting point of the story with two security guys. The group hears Mike’s scream, breaks the glass door, and runs to the security truck. Sam wants to ride away, but Lex and Chris want to go back and help.

Bree is locked in the car, everyone screams. Suddenly truck starts on its own and crushes down off the ledge. Bree is dead.

Detective says it is hard to believe her story. Lex says she didn’t tell him anything yet.

The trio sees a strange shape-shifting figure and hears a girl laugh. They try to escape the other way, but the door is closed. They end up in the basement, the ghost goes after them. Everyone runs. Lex says the ghost is a Half-Faced Girl.

Half-Faced Girl drags away Sam. The duo goes back to him. They find Sam, but he turns into the ghoul with weird marks on his skin and attacks Chris. Lex stabs Sam with scissors in the neck. He asks why she did it. A half a second later Sam’s face is torn off his skull by Half-Faced Girl. Sam is now undead and follows them with no skin on his face. Chris tries to talk to him, but Sam knocks Chris down and crushes his skull with his foot.

Sam and Half-Faced Girl do not follow Lex and she gets away on the elevator. She encounters undead Bree who sings her ‘Happy Birthday’ and then sets herself on fire.

Lex tells detective Peterson that is all she remembers. He tells her everything is going to be ok. Lex takes a picture of him and sees on him the same marks, that were on Sam’s skin.

The Resort Ending

The detective immediately shrieks and attacks her. The hospital is fake, and Peterson is a Half-Faced Girl disguised as the detective. Lex runs, then turns to Half-Faced Girl and shouts back. She looks like an undead.

The Ending Explained

It is obvious protagonist never left the island or the resort. She is dead the same as her friends and is turned into undead under the command of Half-Faced Girl whoever she is.

Cooncel Rating

A very weak movie with obvious plot and a complete lack of plot twists or scary moments whatsoever. Actors clearly understand this and perform accordingly.

Rating: 2 out of 5.
