While the premiere episode of “Lovecraft Country” was a mostly faithful adaptation of the first 60 pages of Matt Ruff’s book, documenting the road trip travels of Atticus, Letitia and George through a treacherous landscape filled with monsters both human and Lovecraftian, the episode’s opening sequence was a bold departure from anything present in Ruff’s novel.
