Don’t get me wrong, Resident Evil 7 is a brilliant game, and it revitalised the series’ survival horror roots by placing the player in a dingy, dilapidated homestead populated by mutated monsters. Stepping away from the action-oriented Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, the game toyed with expectations with slow stretches of suspenseful exploration and puzzles, along with heart-thudding and explosive boss battles. However, in this leap into the unknown, it did leave the classic third-person perspective behind, and that was missed by a number of players.
