Thoughtful exhibition and visual flare show Harris and Tulis have a clear love and deep respect for their subject. Yet, their doc displays a sophistication that allows for characters and the companies they represent to come off as less than saintly. This is no over-polished history of ’90s gaming, but one that reveals the era’s inventiveness and pettiness with equal relish. It’s a doc with byte, and that makes Console Wars a real winner.
