Billy Porter—now celebrated as fashion icon, LGBTQ+ activist, and star of Pose—has come a long way since he carved out his career on the Broadway stage, and now he has a slew of awards to show for it. After the 2019 Emmys ceremony, Porter is only one letter away from achieving EGOT prestige, the coveted combination of winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. The sought-after status is so rare that only 16 people have accomplished the feat (with composer and songwriter Alan Menken being one of the recent ones). But, who knows, Porter may be next.
